“You slid into my DM and told me I was a real mamasita. That's when I knew I was on the right path. We are all real mamasites. I just don't know why it has to hurt so damn much. Yesterday I had my lips done, this morning I went to the bakery to get my burek, with a mask over my mouth, I was embarrassed to show up with this bruise on my upper lip. And these nails, what is it about, even the simplest activity is difficult. I started sending voice messages to everyone, because I can't type. Mom always said that you have to make sacrifices for beauty, I guess that's it now." - Entry from the author's diary, 26/09/2022. The project "Mamasita" represents the author's exploration of the ambiguity of the concept of the beauty of a modern woman. Through a series of video self-portraits, the author tries out various procedures and treatments on her skin, which are the daily routine of a large number of women. Although this series simply shows the infinity of cycles in which these activities are carried out, the author subtly raises some very important social questions - For whom do women dress up so much? Why do they agree to so much pain and waste of time and money for the sake of beauty? And finally - What will we do with all the prejudices that society has against women who do everything for beauty?
